ATI/RI/PDR Soap Opera 2
Hobbes
I don't know all of the facts, Klatu. I did not ban him. Recycla reported to me that he embedded a music file in his posts. He is also linking to his webpages where he tracks people.
Right, Kort has been warned in the past, and frankly, I'm sick of his booby traps.

Bildungsroman In the Age of Character Assassination
Right, Kort has been warned in the past, and frankly, I'm sick of his booby traps.
I don't recall being warned that it was a violation of ATI policy to embed music in a post here. I was under the impression that it was an acceptable practice, since various hosts had done that before.
But if you wish to engage in the practice of character assassination, don't you think it's appropriate to afford the person whose character is under attack to respond in the venue where the attack is taking place?
I mean, if you want to publicly attack my character, Recycla, and do so anonymously, I suppose that's your ethical model to demonstrate.
But to my mind, if anonymous cowards want to engage in defamation against people identified by their real name, it's only fair to afford the target of such indictments a chance to respond in the same venue, and be given a fair hearing.

It is your forum, Hobbes. You're responsible. Don't play the Ed game and say I didn't do it, and hide behind a errant host who is carrying out her own vendettas and making up her own rules on the fly.
Dehost Recycla.
He is also linking to his webpages where he tracks people.
That is irrational. All web pages track people. Are you going to outlaw
ALL LINKS? No WX forum does that.
I have embedded music files in a post a few times, so how can there be anything wrong with it?
It is only not done often because few people know how to do it.

Ah, a Breath of Fresh Air!
I have embedded music files in a post a few times, so how can there be anything wrong with it?
Thank you, Erna.
It may have been your example that I had seen before.
So, if Recycla wants to summarily outlaw the practice, it occurs to me there should be some discussion about that policy, before some random person is summarily nuked for doing it.
Arbitrary and capricious actions like that are unhealthy practices in a virtual community that seeks to bring together people and cultures from around the world.
Hobbes
Arbitrary and capricious actions like that are unhealthy practices in a virtual community that seeks to bring together people and cultures from around the world.
Barry, what do you do to bring people together? You post personal information about people and try to guess where they live and work. That's scary.
Barry, you're a bad-faith participant in the community, and as such, you aren't welcome. Good luck finding some other group of people to bore.
"The Punisher" isn't one of your many pseud, is it, by any chance?
I'm not a regular poster here so I don't feel I have a say in these things. But if I had, I would say get rid of Kort and his pseuds. He doesn't contribute anything but division and strife.
Klatu? I prove your point? What are you talking about? I wasn't even posting to you.

A Fair Question...
Barry, what do you do to bring people together?
I won the NII (National Information Infrastcture) Award for bringing people together to form online learning communities on the Internet.
Does that count?
The promoters of the National Information Infrastructure (NII) and its successor, the Global Information Infrastructure (GII) thought it was exemplary of realizing the promise and the potential of the nascent Internet.
You post personal information about people and try to guess where they live and work. That's scary.
So what? So does Bela. So do a lot of people. No one seemed to think it was so scary, outrageous, or egregious when he did it here.
Why is it scary, Hobbes? The Internet was created to bring people together, and to create a global community.
Those of us who were pioneers in the creation and development of the Internet communicated with each other for years and years without all this cowardly paranoia.
An Unfair Personal Attack...
Barry, you're a bad-faith participant in the community, and as such, you aren't welcome. Good luck finding some other group of people to bore.
If you are bored, Recycla, why do you read my posts? It occurs to me that a lot of people are very interested in these issues.
But since when is boredom a sufficient cause of action to summarily and arbitrary nuke someone?
It occurs to me that you overstep your authority when you presume to express the emotional state of other participants here in ATI.
Hobbes doesn't claim to be bored. He claims to be scared. I claim to be gobsmacked and perplexed. So what? Since when are random emotions a justification for the exercise of summary judgment?
Was Socrates scared? Perhaps. But trepidation is a poor excuse for disrupting the process of building international community.
Boredom isn't what got you jettisoned, Barry, it's your depraved little game whereby you stalk fellow posters.
What is your evidence and reasoning to support that finding?
Boredom isn't what got you jettisoned, Barry, it's your depraved little game whereby you stalk fellow posters.
This place became obviously unpleasant. Mutual insults, useless disputs, stupid aphorisms and ... nothing more. Nothing cheerful, just annoying. Wtf?

Due Process, Anyone?
Boredom isn't what got you jettisoned, Barry, it's your depraved little game whereby you stalk fellow posters.
Would it be permissible to cross examine the unnamed and unidentified witnesses who submitted that bizarre indictment?
*rolls the eyes*
Yah, it is a rather silly plot for a comic soap opera, ain't it?
