Ghost Writers In The Sky

So, you ask, what was all that Brouhaha last night on the Random International Forum at WorldCrossing.Com, that got Halo's shorts in a bunch?

Well, it seems there was a thread called Fun With Headlines that invited Random Forum Members to write funny made-up headlines about each other.

Well, not exactly about each other. Sometimes the targets of the funnies were Random Individuals who were not part of Random International. For example...

____Fun With Headlines #25 - Bela Apr 1, 2005 02:24 pm

Bela Admits to Multiple Personality Disorder; Stops Posting as Kitty, Klatu, Bill Russell, Barry Kort, Saipan, Gotham, Raul, InnocentBystander, Fabulous Fred, Ristretto, Wah Tafule, Op Ed.

Anyway, that's what drew this GhostWriter's attention, so it seemed only fair to play the same sick game with 'those people'.

GhostWritten Funny Headline #1: Hobbes and Kort Meet at Shapiro's Deli For Friendly Luncheon Meeting; There Are No Survivors

GhostWritten Funny Headline #2: Claude Dorsel and Reynaldo Go On a Fabulous Shopping Spree In Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois; They Say It's a Nice Place To Visit, But They Wouldn't Want To Live There

Alas, Halo intervenes and stops the presses...

halo - Jun 15, 2005 9:27 pm (#55 of 63)

Take your crap elsewhere Barry.

------------------------------------------------------

halo - Jun 15, 2005 9:51 pm (#56 of 63)

I won't tell you again.

Now that wasn't a funny headline, so I wrote this one...

GhostWritten Funny Headline #3: Halo Issues Stern Warning to Rogue Headline Writer, Saying: "I am not going to repeat myself. I am not going to repeat myself."

Whereupon...

halo - Jun 15, 2005 10:08 pm (#57 of 63)

Barry Kort has been removed and his posts deleted for breaking World Crossing's Terms of Service by revealing poster's private information.

Followed by this...

Capricious Semi-Funny Headline #4: Grand Jury Investigates Bloody Kerfuffle at Shapiro's Deli; Marion County DA Indicts a Dill Pickle and a Ham Sandwich; Bela, Recycla, and Madame LaFarge Call for Death By Legal Ejection; Halo Fumigates The Scene of the Crime With Zyklon Gas

Capricious Funny Headline #5: Halo Inadvertently Violates World Crossing Terms of Service By Publishing Real Name of Banned Poster; Gets Off Scott Free

Well, you get the idea. Some of 'those people' just don't know how to take a long-running sick joke.

It's enough to make you wanna barf.

Amusingly enough, Halo has not been removed for breaking World Crossing's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy by revealing a poster's real name and ID/Entity, even though Halo was twice warned not to do that, as it sets a bad precedent.

Barry, this would appear to be a violation, until someone was informed that you have posted at WX and at ATI under your own name, that you link to your own homepage several times a day, you even used to use your own photograph as a userpic, etc.

If you have ever tried to keep your real name, occupation, likeness, former workplaces, age, etc a secret, that is news to me, as you often broadcast this information.

You know this.

Also, Halo told me there were other posts of yours at RI last night that were far more inapproriate.

Get help.

The Offending Posts...

Any chance of deleting the offending post ... ???

I agree. I would also like to see someone in a position of responsibility delete the offending posts where people who are not even members of this forum have their real names and/or pseudonymous identities exposed or dragged into view for fun and games and ridicule.

You can begin by doing a search on my real name and finding all the offending posts where I am mentioned by name, including recent posts by Bela and Halo, among others.

If you want to have a policy where people's real names are not disclosed, then I am happy to go along with that. But that policy has to go both ways.

It's not appropriate for Bela or Halo or others in these forums to publicly ridicule real people and otherwise publish false and defamatory information about them, or otherwise play mean-spirited games with sullying or demeaning their character.

If you cannot see your way clear to discontinue this seamy practice, then I will be obliged to go public with the above true story of my real life, including my disturbing experiences in these online communities.

Is that clear enough?

Physician, heal thyself.

I expect Hobbes and Oz to work responsibly with me to clean up this mess.

But they may not.

In which case 'this mess' just becomes another random news story to report in the annals of Random News.

I'll go either way, Bela. Makes no difference to me, since my name is already public, anyway.

Too bad you used your real name as a username, and your own photo as your userpic, and have proudly linked to your home page from your userpage, for years!

Asshole.

Nothing false has been published, merely observations on what an incredible luser you are.

They did.

They banned your disruptive, creepy ass from their forums.

You are now free to infest other forums.

Too bad you saw fit to drag my real name into ATI and RI.

So now you can be the first to tell Hobbes and Oz that the above BLOG entry (and probably a good deal more) will be published on the open Internet and perhaps in some newspapers or magazines, as well. That is, if I can learn to write a little better.

I have a right to tell the true autobiographical story of my own life, Bela, and so that's how I plan to discharge my feelings about what happens here (and there).

Since you are psychic and prescient, you already know everything I will be disclosing about my personal experiences in these Motets, including your own infinitesimally insignificant role in it.

You are now free ...

Indeed, I am now free from the the restrictions of the nonexistent Social Contract in ATI and RI, and I am now free to write and publish the true tell-all autobiography of my own Life On The Screen.

If only I had a Ghost Writer to help me. I wonder if Montana Mouse is doing anything this summer.

How many forums have your dragged my name into?

You are such a transparent hypocrite.

Newspapers? Magazines?

I can't wait to see the headlines:

Pathetic, lonely stalker publishes hit piece

Empty old man embraces punishment as solution

Barry Kort abandons last of principles

Powerless man attempts to aliviate self-loathing by shifting hatred outwards

Somehow I don't think the mass press will care.

I have a right to tell the true autobiographical story of my own life, Bela, and so that's how I plan to discharge my feelings about what happens here (and there).

Well, you have done this before, and it always seems to blow up in your face, since you can't reprint your interactions with others without showing what a boring, cloying, creepy loser you are.

Don't look now, Bela, but someone from the News Division of MTV Networks Europe is reading this forum.

Mebbe they'll do a feature story on you, and you'll become world famous.
